[Cozy Up in Cold Spring]

The calendar says its spring, my daffodils are up, but there is a snow on the ground and a chill in the air and my bones! Nostalgia makes me feel warm and cozy. So, I look in my china closet, and looked for a nostalgic place setting. Countryside by Wedgwood, a transfer pattern blue on white.

Blue is a soothing color and 80% of the population favors this color. I started with the china, and then, focused on the linens. The table needed more than just a tablecloth. The straw place mats added a casual feel, but more intense color to the table. The napkins add another pattern, but since it is a large check, it ties the tablecloth, place mats and place setting together.

The centerpiece was a challenge; I wanted a spring feeling, but wanted simplicity. The white tree adds an interesting focal point and is symbolic. No leaves on my trees, yet. The hyacinths are popping up in my garden, so more symbolism! Plus, the scent is wonderfully sweet.

The place setting, although nostalgic, needed a pop. I used saltcellars, with glass cherries for the pop. Table set, let the unexpected company arrive.

For antique china and flea market friends here is history on Wedgewood vs. Wedgwood.
