[Daffodils and Shells]

Who's getting ready for daffodil weekend on Nantucket? Well if you can’t go there, bring it to your tablescape. What better way to bring the feeling of spring and escape to ACK than this tablescape.

While everyone is focusing on bright yellow, I decided to take a more subtle view with pale yellow daffodils, a shell garland sans sand. I started with etched daffodil paper placemats, on black linen with a pop of color using daffodil linen napkins.

Place Setting: a covered yellow lettuce leaf bowl, which is used to serve soup, chili, seafood salad, or fruit sits on top of a matching salad plate. The vintage china is made in Portugal. Going with a European flare for serving wine, the place setting is paired with vintage juice glasses. I remember my grandparents sitting in the kitchen with these petite wine glasses.

Centerpiece: a very simple garland of shells. The daffodils are woven in the garland. I wanted the feeling that the daffodils were sprouting on the beach. To attain this effect, I used vintage cordial glasses for mini bouquets. Can’t forget candlelight. Used vintage salt cellars to house the tea lights.
